Program Description
The program for each age group is set out in a manner designed to stimulate intellectual, social, emotional, creative and physical development. The preferred approach in meeting these needs and providing a quality environment is by utilizing the open home room concept, with 2 staff per age group, set up in the government specified staff/child ratio.
Centers available throughout the day include the following, all set up as invitingly as possible by the staff members concerned.
Care is taken to familiarize the children with safety rules for the classroom, including time for clean up, toy care, and especially consideration for others.
We have regular daily routines, which ensure that meals and naps are kept at consistent times. As well, weekly plans detailing each group’s daily activities are posted in each room. The utmost attention is paid to following the Calgary Health Services guidelines for cleanliness and hygiene. Specifically we ensure that hands are washed frequently, toys are washed and disinfected weekly or more often if necessary.

Rick the Music Man: We run a monthly program with our good friend Rick Hertert who comes in and does music with the children in each of our age groups, twice a month. Rick has been coming to the Honey Bee for several years now and the children just love him and look forward to his visits.
Just Be Yoga: The wonderful ladies from Just be Yoga come to the center once per week from September to December to do yoga with the 3-6 year old children. The yoga instructors make the classes fun and interesting as they teach the children yoga poses.
Exploring Fine Arts with Ryder: Ryder Richards who is a local practicing artist and holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree runs a program with our 3-6 year olds where she introduces the children to various art mediums such as clay, water colors and paints as they create 2 and 3 dimensional art projects. This program runs 1 hour per week in 10 week slots.
Public Community Librarian: The Louise Riley Branch has a Librarian that comes to the daycare center monthly to read children new books and offer applications for library membership.
